Google Team Drives Backup: How to Back Up Your Files Knowledge

Spinbackup is the first vendor to introduce the Google Team Drives backup. Whether you have a Spinbackup account or are a new user, explore our new Google Team Drives backup feature and restore any document stored at your Team Drive.

If you are a new user, read the Set Up Team Drives for New Users paragraph then move to the Add a Team Drive and Start Backup paragraph.

If you are a Spinbackup user, first read the Set Up Team Drives for Existing Users paragraph, and then move to the Add a Team Drive and Start Backup paragraph.

Set Up Team Drives for New Users

If you are a new user and have no Spinbackup account, go to www.spinbackup.com. Press the FREE TRIAL button in the upper-right corner and sign up for Spinbackup.

At your Dashboard, press the Set Up button at the yellow bar to set up a Team Drive for backup.

You will be moved to the Add Team Drives licenses to your account page. During the Free Trial period, you can back up only 1 Team Drive. Additional Team Drives will become available after you upgrade your account.

To add a free trial Team Drive for backup, read the Add a Team Drive and Start Backup paragraph.

Set Up Team Drives for Existing Users

If you are a Spinbackup user, go to www.spinbackup.com and press the LOG IN as G Suite Administrator button in the upper-right corner.

Enter your Spinbackup credentials or sign in with Google.

Before setting up Team Drives, make sure you are subscribed to a Spinbackup Custom storage (not Unlimited storage) plan. To check this out, on your Dashboard on the left, press Settings.

In the Account summary board, check the line Storage:… If you see the information like on the screen below, you have the correct storage plan.

If you see the line Storage: unlimited, you cannot set up Team Drives, yet. In this case, please contact our Support team to change your storage plan. To do this, press your photo in the upper-right corner then click Support.

When you are ready with the required storage plan, press the Users button in the left menu.

Then, press the Team Drives button.

In a new window, press Add more Team Drives.

You will be moved to the Add Team Drives licenses to your account page.

Add a Team Drive and Start Backup

Select a Team Drive you want to back up by pressing the appropriate checkbox and press Enable 1 Team Drive(s). The system will notify you about the successful Team Drive import.

To find the added Team Drive, on your left, go to the Users section.

Then, press the Team Drives button.

You will see the Team Drive you added. Autobackup of the Team Drive will start during the next 24 hours.

If you want to start the backup manually, press the Team Drive name to open it.

Then, press Backup.

When the backup is completed, you will see your Team Drive content with the same folder hierarchy.
