General questions about Spin

Who can be a SpinOne user?

Any person possessing an account in Google Workspace and/or Office 365. SpinOne serves both individual and business accounts.

Do you have a mobile version?

No

Can I upgrade my account?

You can easily upgrade your account to add access management and/or ransomware protection in your Admin Dashboard. You can also purchase more user licenses there.

Can I cancel my account?

Yes, you may cancel your account at any time. Please note that as you cancel your account, all your data will be automatically removed from the Spin servers. To cancel your account, you need to send us a request from your dashboard. Also, keep in mind while you have cancelled your service, your payment will continue for the contract you signed up for.

I suspended my subscription. Can I restore my Spin account?

  • Individual accounts – no.
  • Business accounts – yes, you need to contact your Account Manager.

Can I cancel my account?

Yes, you may cancel your account at any time. Please note that as you cancel your account, all your data will be automatically removed from the Spinbackup servers. To cancel your account, you need to send us a request from your dashboard.

Can SpinOne access our backed up files as well?

No, we encrypt all your data. Only the Admin of your cloud office can access it.

Do you encrypt the data? What kind of encryption do you use?

Yes. In transit, in use, and at rest. 256-bit AES algorithms. Learn more about data encryption in SpinOne and why it’s important.

What cloud provider does SpinOne use?

We use AWS, GSP and Azure. You can choose one of them for your data backup.

How can I purchase your solution?

Our solution is available on Google Marketplace. You’ll need to log in as an Administrator for the business account or as a user for individual accounts.

  • For Office 365

Our solution is available on Microsoft AppSource. You’ll need to log in as an Administrator for the business account or as a user for individual accounts.

Is there a free trial?

Yes, Spin offers 7 days of free trials for individuals and businesses.

What is the cost of your solution?

Spin has a subscription-based model. We charge per user per month. We also have three different cybersecurity solutions for Google (backup, ransomware protection, and access management) and 2 tools for Office 365.

Our price therefore depends on a number of factors: business or an individual account, cloud office suite you use, the cybersecurity solution you need.

Backup FAQ

Why does my business need a backup?

  1. Data loss damages business operations and business continuity.
  2. It can result in financial and reputational losses.
  3. The laws in most countries stipulate mandatory backups for data.

What is the 3-2-1 rule?

It’s a recommended practice for backups. You should have 3 copies of your data stored on 2 different media one being stored in a remote location.

Is my data safe in the cloud?

Clouds are safe for data storage. This doesn’t, however, apply to cloud office suites that have several entries for cyberattacks.

How often should I backup my data?

At least once a day.

What are the different types of backup?

Full and partial. There are two types of partial backup: incremental and differential. Read our article on different types of backups and learn which is best for you.

Is it safe to backup my business-critical data at SpinOne?

What happens with different versions of my files? Do you backup them too?

SpinOne backs up 100 last versions of each file.

How often can I backup my data with Spin?

You can set automated backup up to three times a day and in addition to that make an unlimited number of manual backups.

What types of data does Spin back up?

  1. All types of files stored on your Google drive or OneDrive
  2. emails, contacts & calendar entries
  3. meta data (file hierarchy, email folders).

Can I or anyone else delete my data backed up by Spin?

No, you can’t delete your backed up data. The reason for this is because this functionality may cause data loss due to accidental or purposeful deletion. So for your data security sake we decided not to allow data deletion.

I lost my Google/Office 365 account. Can you help me recover my data?

SpinOne can only restore the data that we have previously backed up. We can only help users who have Spin subscription.

Can our business use Google Drive as a backup?

No. Google Drive and Shared Drives is a service in a cloud office suite. Its key purpose is to enable collaboration on documents. Google explicitly explains that it’s not a backup service.

Why should I backup my Google data?

Google Workspace is vulnerable to ransomware attacks as well as data loss due to human error and malintent. Google provides limited time for the restoration of the lost data. In most cases, the loss is spotted past this period.

  • Why backup Gmail?

Departments with vast external communications like Sales, Customer Success, or Procurement heavily depend on data that exists nowhere outside their inbox.

  • Why backup Google Drive & Shared Drives?

Most business-critical data is stored in these services. It can be corrupted or deleted in the event of a planned attack or by chance.

  • Why backup Google Calendar?

Calendar augments your business operations both inside the company and with external actors.

Google Provides Google Vault. Why do I need SpinOne?

Can our business use OneDrive as a backup?

No. OneDrive is part of Office 365, the cloud office suite. Its key goal is to prompt the team collaboration on files, not to store them. Microsoft makes it crystal clear that it is not a backup service.

Why should I backup my O 365 data?

Office 365 is vulnerable to both ransomware attacks and data loss due to human error or malintent. None of Office 365 services is safe from these events. Furthermore, Microsoft has limitations to the file recovery time. There’s a great chance you’ll detect the data loss after the recovery opportunity expires.

What’s ransomware & how does it work?

Ransomware is malware that encrypts files in a given system. Cybercriminals demand payment (ransom) in exchange for decryption keys. Learn more about ransomware.

Can ransomware hit Google Workspace?

What should I do in case of a ransomware attack?

First, try to turn off access to the infected cloud drive to all your PCs. Second, contact law enforcement. Third, check if you can roll back to previous versions.
